God is Faithful (Apr 25)

Read a devotional selection from June 22, "Faithfulness," Walk with God by Chris Tiegreen.

Psalm 89:8

O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

Psalm 36:5-7

5 Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Psalm 57:10-11

10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. 11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

Psalm 108:3-6

3 I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. 4 For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. 5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; 6 That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

Psalm 100

1 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalm 117

1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

You Can Run, But You Can't Hide (Apr 18)

March 28, 2010 - You may find yourself coming to God's house yet you are still holding on to your old life, doing your own thing and hiding in the dark. You may find yourself grasping at that one thing that God has spoken and told you, “no, you cannot have this”, but you still insist on your own way because you want the right to it. Those who sin against God find themselves running from Him, hiding under a dark covering. This message is a loving reminder to every child of God that it doesn't matter where you run to hide. At some point you will hear a loving Father asking, “where are you”? You can run from God but you cannot hide because the nature of God is going to chase you down and make you realize His mercy will not let you go!

Why? (Apr 11)

How often do we come to church or other Bible study gatherings without a clear purpose? Do we come just because we are expected to? Do we come because we need something to do or because we want to see our friends or socialize? Do we come because we want to see Jesus?

John 12:20-26

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: 21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. 22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. 23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

Luke 14:33

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

How many times did Jesus have to tell his followers to leave other distractions and follow him only? How many times did he have to tell them to avoid temptations? So many times we have other things that distract us from the real reason that we gather together in church meetings—to see Jesus!

So, let me ask you...why are we here? Why do we do this? Why do we put so much time into this?
